Graduation Requirements

Westminster Public Schools (WPS) is committed to ensuring that all students receive a quality education based on the belief that students should attain a level of competency before moving to the next level of education. The focus on learning is well-rounded. We encourage students to focus on courses that not only satisfy their academic requirements for graduation but also align with their passions and future career plans.

4 THINGS TO GRADUATE:

    1. A mix of core classes such as English language arts, math, social studies and science
    2. Electives guided by your child’s career and college goals
    3. Meeting a readiness benchmark in math and English language arts, which demonstrates your child is ready
    4. Future Plan that your student is ready to pursue a career after high school

Westminster High School has a course catalogue that details the number of required courses and the order in which they are taken.

Life beyond high school is different from what it used to be. Over 74% of jobs in Colorado now and in the future require training or education beyond high school.  Students who graduate and work in Colorado will need real-world skills to secure employment.

WPS is committed to ensuring that all students not only receive a high quality education but also engage in courses that align with their future career plan. In addition to demonstrating proficiency in the core subject areas, students are given the opportunity to use their general elective credits to support courses that prepare them for their future career. See the resources below to ensure you are on track to graduate.

Additionally, students must reach competency in one of the approved Readiness Benchmarks for both English Language Arts and Mathematics as described in the table below.
